AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING CHAPTER 6.06 OF THE ELGIN MUNICIPAL CODE, 1976,
AS AMENDED, ENTITLED "ALCOHOLIC LIQUOR DEALERS"
WHEREAS, the Liquor Control Commission of the City of Elgin is currently composed of
three members which include the mayor and two councilmen; and
WHEREAS,the city council of the City of Elgin has determined that it is desirable to expand
the composition of the Liquor Control Commission to include the mayor and all of the councilman
then holding office; and
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin is a home rule unit and as a home rule unit is authorized to
exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs; and
WHEREAS,the control and regulation of alcoholic liquors within the City of Elgin and the
composition of the city's Liquor Control Commission pertains to the government and affairs of the
city.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That Section 6.06.020 of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976,as amended,entitled
"Liquor Control Commission Established; Composition" be and is hereby further amended by
amending subparagraph B thereof to read as follows:
"B. The commission shall be composed of and shall include the mayor and
the members of the city council then holding office. The mayor shall serve as
chairman of the commission."
Section 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance be and are hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage and
publication in the manner provided by law.
