elk AN ORDINANCE
ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF ELGIN
(Copper Springs Subdivision—3400 and 3401 Water Road)
WHEREAS, a petition signed by all the owners of record of certain territory has been filed
with the City Clerk requesting annexation of said territory to the City of Elgin, Illinois; and
WHEREAS,said petition includes therein a statement under oath by all the owners of record
that no electors reside on the subject territory; and
WHEREAS, said territory is contiguous to the City of Elgin and is not within the corporate
limits of any municipality; and
WHEREAS, legal notices of the intent of the City of Elgin to annex said territory have been
forwarded to all public bodies required to receive said notice in the manner provided by law.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That the territory and lands described as follows be and are annexed to and
made a part of the City of Elgin and the boundaries of the City of Elgin be and are hereby enlarged
and extended to include in the corporate boundaries of the City of Elgin said territory:
Parcel 1: That part of the southeast quarter of Section 18 and part of the
northeast quarter of Section 19, Township 41 North, Range 8 east of the Third
Principal Meridian,described as follows: Commencing at the southwest corner of the
northeast quarter of the northeast quarter of section 19; thence north 4.60 chains;
thence north 50 degrees 45 minutes west 11.60 chains to the southwest corner of the
tract of land conveyed to Nathan G. Phillips by deed dated January 10, 1871 and
recorded on January 14, 1871 in book 124, page 507, for the point of beginning;
thence north 35 degrees east 20.35 chains to a line drawn north 48 degrees 30 minutes
west from a point in the south line of said section 18,7.55 chains west of the southeast
corner thereof; thence north 48 degrees 30 minutes west along said line 9.72 chains to
a point 22.68 chains north 48 degrees 30 minutes west(measured along the foregoing
described line) from the south line of said section 18; thence south 41 degrees west
19.82 chains;thence south 48 degrees 30 minutes east 12.08 chains to a point south 35
degrees west 25 links from the point of beginning; thence north 35 degrees east 25
links to the point of beginning.
Parcel 2: Part of section 19 of the Township and Range aforesaid described as
follows: Beginning at the center of section 19; thence east along the quarter section
line 19.88 chains; thence north along the east line of the west half of the northeast
elk quarter of section 19 aforesaid 24.28 chains to a point 4.60 chains north of the
southwest corner of the northeast quarter of the northeast quarter of said section 19;
thence north 50 degrees 45 minutes west 11.60 chains; thence south 35 degrees west
51.30 chains to the center of the highway; thence south 73 degrees east along the
center of the highway 12.56 chains; thence south 57 degrees east along the center of
said highway 8.75 chains to the center line of section 19; thence north along said
center line 18.20 chains to the point of beginning.
Parcel Three: That part of sections 19 and 30 Township 41 North, Range 8
east of the Third Principal Meridian,Described as follows: Beginning at the southeast
corner of the southwest fractional quarter of section 19;thence south along the quarter
section line 1.47 chains; thence west parallel with the south line of section 19
aforesaid 19.905 chains; thence north 2 degrees east 31.15 chains to the center of the
highway; thence south 73 degrees east along the center of said public highway 11.17
chains to an angle in said highway; thence south 57 degrees east along the center of
said highway 8.75 chains to the center line of section 19; thence south along said
center line to the point of beginning,(except therefrom,that part described as follows:
Beginning at the southeast corner of the southwest quarter of said section 19; thence
south 00 degrees 38 minutes 53 seconds east 102.67 feet, along the east line of the
northwest quarter of said section 30, to the northeast corner of lot 22 in Catatoga 2
subdivision, being a subdivision in that part of said section 30; thence south 89
degrees 36 minutes 57 seconds west 1314.22 feet along the north line of said Catatoga
2 Subdivision;thence north 03 degrees 15 minutes 56 seconds east(north 02 degrees
east record) 573.50 feet; thence south 73 degrees 11 minutes 19 seconds east 368.33
feet; thence south 80 degrees 46 minutes 52 seconds east 97.25 feet;thence south 82
degrees 58 minutes 16 seconds east 377.14 feet; thence south 86 degrees 53 minutes
44 seconds east 457.21 feet,to a point of the east line of the east line of the southwest
quarter of said section 19;thence south 00 degrees 10 minutes 28 seconds east 268.12
feet, along said east line to the point of beginning)all in the Township of Elgin,Kane
County, Illinois (Property Commonly Known as 3400 and 3401 Water Road).
Section 2. That a certified copy of this ordinance together with an accurate map of said
territories shall be filed with the Recorder of Deeds, Kane County, Illinois.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately after its passage
in the manner provided by law.
