AN ORDINANCE
VACATING A PORTION OF CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS
(Wellington Avenue, Lake Street and an Alley)
WHEREAS, the public interest will be served by vacating a portion of certain public streets
in the City of Elgin, Kane County, Illinois, as shown in Exhibit "A" attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, said property is not necessary to serve the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That a portion of certain public streets in the City of Elgin, Kane County,
Illinois, legally described as follows:
That part of Wellington Avenue (formerly Railway Avenue) as platted in
0' Davidson's Addition to Elgin, and part of Lake Street as platted in Railroad
Addition, both being a subdivision of part of the Southwest Quarter of Section 13,
Township 41 North,Range 8 East of the Third Principal Meridian lying southeasterly
of the South line of Prairie Street and northwesterly and southwesterly of a line
described as follows: Beginning at the southwesterly corner of Lot 11 in William F.
rk Sylla's Resubdivision of Lots A, B, C, D, E & F of County Clerk's Subdivision of
Out Lots 21, 22 & 23 of J.T. Gifford's Add. to Elgin and Lots A, B, C, & D of
County Clerk's Subdivision of Block 3 of Railroad Addition to Elgin; thence
southeasterly, along the southeasterly extension of the southwesterly line of said
Lot 11, a distance of 21.02 feet; thence southwesterly, a distance of 93.11 feet to a
point on the northeasterly extension of the southeasterly line of Block 1 in aforesaid
O. Davidson's Addition to Elgin,said point being 10.06 feet, as measured along said
extension, northeasterly of the southeasterly corner of said Block 1; thence
southwesterly, along aforesaid northeasterly extension to said southeasterly corner of
Block 1 for the terminus of said line ALSO an alley as platted in Davidson's Grove
Avenue Subdivision of aforesaid Section 13, township and range aforesaid lying
southeasterly of the South line of Prairie Street and southwesterly of the
southwesterly line of Wellington Avenue being situated in the City of Elgin, Kane
County, Illinois.
be and the same are hereby vacated.
Section 2. That a certified copy of this ordinance together with a plat of said vacated right
of way be filed with the Recorder of Deeds of Kane County, Illinois.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage in
