AMENDING CHAPTER 3.03 OF THE ELGIN MUNICIPAL CODE, 1976, AS AMENDED
ENTITLED "MEETINGS; GENERAL PROVISIONS"
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That Section 3.03.060 of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976,as amended,entitled
"Residency Required"be and is hereby further amended to read as follows:
"3.03.060: RESIDENCY REQUIRED:
All members of any city board,commission or committee shall be required as
a condition of their original appointment and continued membership of a board,
commission or committee to have and to maintain their bona fide residence and
principal place of abode within the corporate city limits of the City of Elgin. The
residency requirement provided for in this section shall not apply, however, to
members of The Centre Advisory Board or to members of any city board,
commission or committee when the city council determines in its discretion that such
members require specific professional or technical training or knowledge. The
residency requirement provided for in this section shall also not apply, however, to
members of any city board, commission or committee when the ordinance
establishing such city board,commission or committee requires the members thereof
be as broadly representative of the community as practically feasible, in such areas
including,but not limited to,race,color,religion,creed,sex,national origin and age,
and the City council determines in its discretion that the appointment of such
members is necessary to meet the representative requirements of such ordinance."
Section 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance be and are hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage in the
manner provided by law.
