AN ORDINANCE
REGARDING THE TERMS OF MEMBERS OF THE CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION
WHEREAS, Section 3 . 75 . 030B of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976,
as amended, provides that appointments for members to the city' s
Cultural Arts Commission shall be for a term of three years; and
WHEREAS, currently the terms of six members of the Cultural
Arts Commission expire November 1, 2002 , the terms of three members
expire November 1 , 2003 and no terms expire in 2004 ; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable to temporarily alter
the appointment terms for certain members of the Cultural Arts
Commission so as to provide for the staggering of expiration dates
for the terms of the members of the Cultural Arts Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS :
Section 1 . That notwithstanding the provisions of
Section 3 . 75 . 030B of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976, as amended,
three of the six members appointed to the Cultural Arts Commission
(0°- for the member positions on the Cultural Arts Commission with terms
that expire on November 1, 2002, shall be for a term of two years
expiring November 1, 2004 .
Section 2 . That this ordinance shall be in full force and
effect upon its passage .
