Cogley Dolonna Mecum Corporation Counsel Elgin City Clerk City of Elgin 150 Dexter Court 150 Dexter Court Elgin, IL 60120 Elgin, IL 60120 _\ 98K071870 \~' Ordinance No. S10-98 AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING THE ELGIN TOWER BUILDING AS A HISTORICAL LANDMARK WHEREAS, the Elgin Heritage Commission has conducted a public hearing and determined that the Elgin Tower Building meets the criteria of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976, as amended, for designation of a historical landmark; and WHEREAS, the Elgin Heritage Commission has submitted its report and findings in support of its determination and recommendation; and WHEREAS, the Elgin Tower Building has been identified by the Elgin Heritage Commission, Illinois, as a significant historical and architectural structure within the City of Elgin due to its connection to the downtown development of the area and its significant architectural and structural design; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate to promote civic pride through an awareness of Elgin' s unique development and history; and encourage the conservation and preservation of an important segment of the man-made environment of the City of Elgin; and WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the recommendation of the Elgin Heritage Commission and concurs in the recommendation to designate the Elgin Tower Building as a historical landmark. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that the Elgin Tower Building, located upon the property legally described as follows : Parcel One: That Part of Lots 3 and 4 in Block 19 of the Original Town of Elgin on the East Side of the Fox River, Described as Follows : Beginning at the Southeast Corner of Said Lot 4 ; Thence North along the East Line of Said Lot, 60 Feet; Thence West at Right Angles to Said East Line, 66 Feet to the West Line of Said Lot; Thence Southwesterly at Right Angles to the Easterly Line of River Street to the Westerly Line of Said Lot; Thence Southerly along Said Westerly Line and along the Westerly Line of Lot 4 Aforesaid to the South Line of Said Lot 4 ; Thence East along the South Line of Said Lot, 49 . 5 Feet to the Point of Beginning.
