AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE PAY PLAN FOR CERTAIN APPOINTED OFFICERS
AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF ELGIN
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS :
Section 1 . That Section 1 of Ordinance No. G9-98 entitled
"An Ordinance Establishing a Pay Plan for Certain Appointed
Officers and Employees of the City of Elgin" is hereby amended
by amending the position of Police Lieutenant in Range 54,
Benefit Group B, to read as follows :

Section 2 . That Section 1 of Ordinance No. G9-98 entitled
"An Ordinance Establishing a Pay Plan for Certain Appointed
Officers and Employees of the City of Elgin" is hereby further
amended by amending the position of Fire Captain in Range 53,
Benefit Group C5 , to read as follows :

Section 3 . That Section 1 of Ordinance No. G9-98 entitled
"An Ordinance Establishing a Pay Plan for Certain Appointed
Officers and Employees of the City of Elgin" is hereby further
amended by amending the position of Police Sergeant in Range
47, Benefit Group C, to read as follows :

Section 4 . That Section 2 of Ordinance No. G9-98 entitled
"An Ordinance Establishing a Pay Plan for Certain Appointed
Officers and Employees of the City of Elgin" is hereby amended
by amending Subparagraph 8 of the Group C Benefit Group Plan to
read as follows :
"8) Police management personnel shall receive compensation for
court appearance on days off at straight time for actual
hours with a minimum of two hours pay. Total compensation
for standby for court duty on day off is $40 . Police
Sergeants shall be paid at a rate equivalent to 135% of
the top sergeant ' s hourly rate of pay for hours worked

over and above work hours normally paid at straight time
rate for: a) Details and b) Operationally required
overtime. Sergeants shall have the option of compensatory
time for hours in excess of their regular 84 shift hours
with a maximum of 48 hours per year bank. "
Section 5 . That all ordinances or part of ordinances in
conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be and are
hereby repealed.
Section 6 . That this ordinance shall be in full force and
effect upon its passage.
