AN ORDINANCE
few AMENDING CHAPTER 3 . 24 OF THE ELGIN MUNICIPAL CODE, 1976 ,
AS AMENDED, ENTITLED "ELGIN IMAGE ADVISORY COMMISSION"
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin is a home rule unit pursuant to
Article VII of the Illinois Constitution; and
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin, as a home rule unit, may
exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its
government and affairs ; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Elgin has
determined that it is necessary and desirable to amend the
appointment procedure for the appointment of members to the
Elgin image advisory commission; and
WHEREAS, the appointment of members to the Elgin image
advisory commission pertains to the government and affairs of
the City of Elgin.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS :
Section 1 . That Section 3 . 24 . 010 of the Elgin Municipal
Code, 1976 , as amended, entitled "Creation" be and is hereby
amended in its entirety to read as follows :
"3 . 24 . 010 CREATION.
There is created an image advisory commission
entitled the Elgin image advisory commission composed
of twelve members to be appointed by the city
council . Each member shall serve for a term of three
years . Terms shall expire on May 1st of the year of
the termination. The city council shall designate
the chairman of the commission from among the members
thereof . "
Section 2 . That all ordinances or parts thereof in
conflict with this ordinance be and are hereby repealed.
Section 3 . That this ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and publication in the manner
provided by law.
