AN ORDINANCE
•
AMENDING CHAPTER 19, ENTITLED "ZONING" OF THE
ELGIN MUNICIPAL CODE, 1976, AS AMENDED
WHEREAS, written application has been made to amend the
provisions of the zoning ordinance relating to signs; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Development Commission held a
public hearing concerning the proposed amendment after due
notice in the manner provided by law; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Development Commission has
submitted its written findings and recommendation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1 . That Chapter 19 . 50 entitled "Signs" of
Title 19 of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976, as amended, be and
is hereby further amended by amending Subsection 4 of Section
19 .50 . 130B to read as follows :
4 . A nonconforming sign may be relocated on
the same zoning lot. No nonconforming sign shall be
relocated prior to the issuance of a sign permit, as
provided in Section 19 .50 . 140, Sign Permits .
(emit The sign permit shall specify that the
nonconforming sign shall be removed from the
property or that the nonconforming sign shall be
made to conform to all of the provisions of this
title within ten ( 10) years of the date of the
issuance of the permit.
No nonconforming sign shall be relocated in
whole or in part to another zoning lot unless such
sign conforms to all of the provisions of this title.
Section 2 . That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be and are
hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force
and effect after its passage and publication in the manner
provided by law.
