G31-88 Ordinance No. G 3 I-88 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6.06 OF THE ELGIN MUNICIPAL CODE, 1976, AS AMENDED REGARDING THE SALE OF LIQUOR BY CHURCHES AND SCHOOLS DURING SPECIAL EVENTS WHEREAS, the City of Elgin is an Illinois municipal corporation and a home rule unit pursuant to the Constitution and laws of the State of Illinois; and WHEREAS, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs; and WHEREAS, the regulation of the sale of alcoholic liquor is a matter pertaining to the government and affairs of the City of Elgin. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section I. That Section 6.06.040(H) of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976, as amended, is hereby amended to read as follows: H. Class G. For the retail sale of alcoholic liquor by churches or schools on church or school premises during periods when groups are assembled on the premises solely for the promotion of some object other than the sale or consumption of alcoholic liquors; expressly providing, however, that no license shall issue to any single church or school for more than three consecutive days nor for more than six days total in any calendar year. The license fee shall be twenty-five dollars for each period. Section 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provi- sions of this ordinance be and are hereby repealed. Section 3.
