AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING CHAPTER 4.24 OF THE ELGIN MUNICIPAL CODE, 1976, AS AMENDED
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section I. That Title 4, Chapter 4.24 entitled Hotel or Motel Room Rental Tax of
the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976, as amended, be and is hereby further amended by
amending Section 4.24.020A to read as follows:
A. There is levied and imposed a tax of three and one-half percent of
the rent charged for the privilege and use of renting a hotel or motel room
within the city for each twenty-four-hour period or any portion thereof for
which a daily room charge is made; provided however, that the tax shall not
be levied and imposed upon any person who rents a hotel or motel room for
more than thirty consecutive days or to a person who works and lives in the
same hotel or motel.
Section 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provi-
sions of this ordinance be and are hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
January I, 1988.
