AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING SECTION 11.35.155 OF THE ELGIN MUNICIPAL CODE
DEALING WITH THE UNAUTHORIZED USE OF PARKING SPACES
RESERVED FOR HANDICAPPED PARKING
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section I. That Title 11 , Chapter 11.36, Section 11.36.155 of the Elgin Municipal
Code, 1 976, as amended, be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
11.36.155 Unauthorized Use of Parking Places Reserved for Handicapped
Persons
A. No person shall park any motor vehicle which is not bearing
registration plates or decals issued to a handicapped person, as defined by
Section 1-159.1, pursuant to Sections 3-616 or 11-1301.2, or to a disabled
veteran pursuant to Section 3-609 of the Illinois Vehicle Code, as evidence
that the vehicle is operated by or for a handicapped person or disabled
veteran, in any parking place, including any private or public of fstreet
parking facility, specifically reserved, by the posting of an official sign as
designated under Section 11-301, for motor vehicles bearing such registra-
tion plates or decals.
B. Any person found guilty of violating the provisions of this Section
shall be fined $50 in addition to any costs or charges connected with the
removal or storage of any motor vehicle authorized by law.
Section 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provi-
sions of this ordinance be and are hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten days after its
passage and publication in the manner provided by law.
