G4-80 �r. Ordinance No. G4-80 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE IV. ENTITLED "THE ADOPTION AND ADMINISTRATION OF POSITION CLASSIFICATION AND PAY PLANS" OF CHAPTER 6 OF THE CITY CODE (ORDINANCE NO. S-569, PASSED DECEMBER 23, 1955) AS PERTAINS TO THE COMPENSATION PLAN AND TO THE SCHEDULE OF STANDARD SALARY RANGES AND THE OFFICIAL SALARY PLAN OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, AS AMENDED WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Elgin has heretofore ratified and approved negotiated understandings reached by the City of Elgin's Wage and Benefit Committee and various Employee Relations Committee; and WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has agreed to implement a new schedule for Fire employees as described herein. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That there is hereby added to and forming a part of Arti- cle IV of Chapter 6 of the City Code (Ordinance No. S-569, passed December 23, 1955), as amended, the following amended schedule of standard salary ranges, forming the official salary plan which shall read as follows: OFFICIAL FIRE SALARY PLAN Salary Range Position I II III IV V VI 38 F Fire Lieutenant 1806 1885 1963 32 F Firefighter 1430 1484 1539 1607 1670 1744 Section 2. That effective June 29, 1980, the official salary plan shall be amended to read as follows: Salary Range Position I II III IV V VI 38 F Fire Lieutenant 1833 1913 1992 32 F Firefighter 1451 1506 1562 1631 1695 1770 Section 3. That effective December 28, 1980, the official salary plan shall be amended to read as follows: Salary Range Position I II III IV V VI 38 F Fire Lieutenant 1943 2078 2112 32 F Firefighter 1538 1596 1656 1729 1797 1876 Section 4. That effective June 28, 1981, the official salary plan shall be amended to read as follows: Salary Range Position I II III IV V VI 38 F Fire Lieutenant 1982 2120 2154 32 F Firefighter 1569 1628 1689 1764 1833 1914 Section 5. That effective June 28, 1981, the official salary plan shall be further amended if the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers--Chicago, All Items (1967=100) (hereafter called "CPI") for the month of May, 1981 has increased one-half of one percent or more above eight percent (8%) over the preceding CPI for the month of May, 1980. The official salary plan shall be amended by a cost of living adjustment which shall be calculated on the following basis: for each full one-half of one percent (1%) increase in the CPI between May, 1980 and May 1981 above eight percent (8%) up to a maximum increase in the CPI of ten percent (10%) there shall be a salary increase calculated by multiplying each full one-half of one percent (1%) increase by 0.8. Section 6. That all other ranges in the 'F' schedule of standard salary ranges be and are hereby amended accordingly and that the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to prepare the appropriate schedules reflecting the foregoing amendments to salary ranges of the City of Elgin. Section 7. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 8.
