G30-78 Ordinance No. G30-78 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE IV. ENTITLED "THE ADOPTION AND ADMINISTRATION OF POSITION CLASSIFICATION AND PAY PLANS" OF CHAPTER 6 OF THE CITY CODE (ORDINANCE NO. S-569, PASSED DECEMBER 23, 1955) AS PERTAINS TO THE COMPENSATION PLAN AND TO THE SCHEDULE OF STANDARD SALARY RANGES AND THE OFFICIAL SALARY PLAN OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, AS AMENDED WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Elgin has heretofore ratified and approved negotiated understandings reached by the City of Elgin's Wage and Benefit Committee and various Employee Relations Committees; and WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has agreed to implement a new schedule for certain employees as described herein. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That there is hereby added to and forming a part of Article IV of Chapter 6 of the City Code (Ordinance No. S-569, passed December 23, 1955) , as amended, the following amended schedule of standard salary ranges; for the purpose of ordinance, ranges are hereby designated as follows: 'P' range refers to positions in Police Employee Agreement SCHEDULE OF STANDARD SALARY RANGES CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS Salary Range I II III IV V VI 32P 1200 1235 1290 1350 1420 1500 33P 1230 1265 1320 1380 1450 1530 34P 1260 1295 1350 1410 1480 1560 Section 2. That there is hereby added to and forming a part of Article IV of Chapter 6 of the City Code (Ordinance No. S-569, passed December 23, 1955), as amended, the following amended official salary plan reads as follows: OFFICIAL SALARY PLAN CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS Salary Range Position I II III IV V VI 32P Police Patrol Officer 1200 1235 1290 1350 1420 1500 Any police patrol officer assigned by the Police Chief to an administrative patrol officer post shall be paid $30.00 per month above his/her normal pay step in the official salary range for the period of time so assigned. Also, any police patrol officer assigned by the Police Chief as a senior patrol officer shall be paid $60.00 per month above his/her normal pay step in the official salary range for the period of time so assigned. Section 3. The beginning police patrol officer shall start at step one of his/her official salary range. He/she will be eligible to advance to step two of said range after six (6) months employment and will be eligible to advance to further steps in said salary range at twelve (12) month increments thereafter until reaching the range maximum. Section 4. That effective July 2, 1978 'P° ranges to be increased one and four-tenths percent (1.4%). Section 5. That effective December 31, 1978 'P' ranges to be increased five and one-half percent (5-1/2%). Section 6. That effective July 1, 1979 'P' ranges to be increased one percent (1%). Section 7. That effective July 1, 1979 there shall be an additional salary increase of the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers--Chicago, All Items (1967=100, revised) (herein called "CPI") for the month of May, 1979 (as made available in June, 1979) has increased over the preceding CPI for the month of May, 1978 as follows: 'P' ranges to be adjusted for each full one-half of one percent (1/2%) increase in the CPI between May, 1978 and May, 1979, above six and one-half percent (6-1/2%) , there shall be a salary increase calculated by multiplying each full one-half percent (1/2%) by .8. Section 8. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to prepare an appropriate schedule reflecting the foregoing amendments to the salary ranges of the City of Elgin. Section 9. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 10.
