AN ORDINANCE
PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS OF THE
BOARD OF LOCAL IMPROVEMENTS
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin is a home rule unit and may exercise any
power and perform any function relating to its government and affairs;
and
WHEREAS, it has heretofore been established by state statute and
ordinances of the City of Elgin for a Board of Local Improvements; and
WHEREAS, the state statute has been amended to provide for the
appointment of members of the Board of Local Improvements by the Mayor
with the consent of the Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, IN THE EXERCISE OF THE POWERS OF A HOME RULE UNIT,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That Section 7-101 of Article I of Chapter 7 of the
Municipal Code of Elgin, Illinois, be and is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"7-101. Creation. The Mayor and four Councilmen shall
be appointed as members of the Board of Local Improvements of
the City."
Section 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage in the manner provided by law.
