AN ORDINANCE
FOR THE LEVY OF TAXES FOR THE CITY OF ELGIN
SPECIAL SERVICE AREA NO. 1.
WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the City of Elgin, Illinois
conducted a public hearing on February 6, 1974 pursuant to notice as required
by the statutes of the State of Illinois to consider the formation of a
special service area and the levy of taxes to provide for the payment of
design and engineering services for a shopping mall in said proposed special
service area; and
WHEREAS, after the expiration of thirty days following said public
hearing, no petitions signed by 51% of the electors residing within the
proposed special service area and by at least 51% of the owners of record
of the land included within the boundaries of the proposed special area
was filed objecting to the formation of said special service area or the
levy of taxes as proposed; and
WHEREAS, City of Elgin special service area was formed by an ordinance
duly enacted by the City Council of the City of Elgin, Illinois.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS.
Section 1. That there be and there is hereby levied upon all taxable
eft. real estate or personalty located within City of Elgin Special Service Area
No. 1, as established by ordinance of the City of Elgin, Illinois subject to
taxation for the year 1973, the sums of $110,000 for the purpose of payment
for professional design and engineering services for a public improvement in
said special service area in the nature of a shopping mall.
Section 2. That a certified copy of this ordinance shall be filed with
the County Clerk of Kane County, Illinois for extension of said tax in accordance
with the provisions of Chapter 120, Section 162, of the Illinois Revised Statutes,
1973.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
