AN ORDINANCE
PROHIBITING AND DEFINING THE OFFENSE OF ASSAULT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That Section 16-1 of the Elgin City Code, dated February 21,
1955, entitled "Assault" be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
"16-1. Assault. No person shall commit an assault upon
another. A person commits an assault when, without lawful
authority, he engages in conduct which places another in reason-
able apprehension of receiving a battery."
Section 2. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage in the manner provided by law and shall be published
in pamphlet form by authority of the City Council.
