G-1628 Ordinance No. G-1628 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That the Fire Department of the City of Elgin, Illinois, is hereby authorized and directed to provide emergency ambulance service to injured persons as soon as practicable following receipt of fully equipped ambulances and adequate training of a sufficient number of firemen to render such emergency service. Section 2. That emergency ambulance service provided by the Fire Department of the City of Elgin, Illinois, shall be provided only in cases of actual and extreme emergency to injured persons and only for the purpose of transporting said persons to hospitals located within the City of Elgin, Illinois. Section 3. The Fire Department of the City of Elgin is authorized to provide ambulance service outside the corporate limits of the City of Elgin only in the event that no other ambulance service is available. Section 4. Persons receiving emergency ambulance service from the Fire Department of the City of Elgin within the corporate limits of the City of Elgin shall pay the sum of $35 for said service. Section 5. Persons receiving emergency ambulance service from the Fire Department of the City of Elgin outside the corporate limits of the City of Elgin shall pay the sum of $50 for said service. Section 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage in the manner provided by law and shall be published in pamphlet form by authority of the City Council. W. E.
