few AN ORDINANCE
REORGANIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND ENGINEERING TO
INCLUDE THE DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE WATER DEPARTMENT.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That Sections 10-101, 10-102, and 10-103 of Chapter 10
of the City Code of Elgin, as amended, are hereby repealed.
Section 2. That Section 12.5-103 of Chapter 12.5 of the City Code
of Elgin, as amended, is hereby amended by adding the following paragraphs:
"The Director of Public Works shall supervise and cause
to be inspected all connections made to the City of Elgin
water works system, and water lines; and shall be responsible
for their efficient operation and management; shall have
supervision over the making of any extensions to the water
works system; shall be responsible for the enforcement of
all laws and ordinances relating to the water works system;
shall make all reports as the City Manager shall require.
The Director of Public Works shall protect the water
works system from unnecessary damage or loss; and keep said
system in good running order and repair and shall keep a
h correct map or profile of all water mains in the City of Elgin
on file in his office, with the dimensions, locations and
connections, valves, hydrants, and cut-offs and shall keep
true and correct records."
Section 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage in the manner provided by law and shall be published in
pamphlet form by authority of the City Council.
