AN ORDINANCE
GRANTING A SPECIAL USE FOR A TIME AND TEMPERATURE SIGN.
WHEREAS written application has been made requesting a special use
for a time and temperature roof mounted sign at 500 Dundee Avenue, Elgin,
Illinois; and
-WHEREAS the Plan Commission, after review, has reported its findings
and recommendations to the Zoning Board of Appeals and the City Council;
and
WHEREAS the Zoning Board of Appeals held a public hearing after due
notice in accordance with the statutes of the State of Illinois and the
Elgin Zoning Ordinance; and
WHEREAS the Zoning Board of Appeals has submitted its findings and
recommendations to the City Council and has recommended granting the special
use requested.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That the City Council finds that a time and temperature
rooftop sign located on the bank building at 500 Dundee Avenue is necessary
for the public-convenience- to-inform pedestrian and vehicular traffic of
the location' of the bank situated near a congested intersection with a large
number of-signs; the City Council further finds the proposed sign will be
located upoira TO0f4Ap lolls :limited in- size snd construction and operated
so,that'the-'puhiichealth, -safety and welfare will be protected; the City
Council further finds that'the°proposed' sign will not cause substantial injury
to other'praperty in therneighborhood :ini whith it- is-located since the
surrounding-area-is a°highly developed business district with a great number
of signs existing.
Section 2. That a special use is hereby granted for the erection and
maintenance of a rooftop _identification sign with time and temperature
indicators on the: bu.ildi-ng.located at 500. Dundee Avenue, Elgin, Illinois,
legally :describerl as follows:
"That part of Lot 1 in Block .26 of P.J. Kimball's Jr.
Third Addition-to :Elgin,. described as follows: Beginning at
the Southeast°-corner-of said Lot 1; thence West along the
South line of said-Lot, 94.2 feet; thence North parallel with
the West line of said Lot 1, a distance of 66.0 feet; thence
Easterly parallel with the South line of said Lot 1, a distance
of 139.2 feet to the Easterly line of said Lot 1, being also the
Westerly line of Dundee Avenue; thence Southwesterly along the
Easterly line of-said Lot..1, a distance of 79.4 feet to the place
of beginning:- Being-situated in. the City of Elgin, Kane County,
fi ► Illinois."
F subject to the following conditions:
1. Said sign shall be a _rooftop rotating time and temperature
sign with no advertising thereon other than the name the Elgin
State Bank.
