AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE TO PERMIT BILLBOARDS AND SIGNBOARDS
AS SPECIAL USES IN BUSINESS DISTRICTS,
WHEREAS written application has been made to amend the Elgin Zoning
Ordinance to make billboards or signboards for directional and informational
purposes a special use in all business districts; and
WHEREAS said application has been reviewed by the Plan Commission which
has made a report of its findings and recommendations to the City Council
and Zoning Board of Appeals; and
WHER (.S"the'-Zoning Board of Appeals has conducted a public hearing after
due notice in accordance with the statutes of the State of Illinois and the
Elgin Zoning-Ordinance; and
'WHEREAS—the Zoning Board of Appeals has forwarded its findings and
recommendations to the City Council and recommended amendment of the Zoning
Ordinance in accordance with the application.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That Subsection (3) entitled "SPECIAL USES" of Section 21-108B
of the Elgin Zoning Ordinance, as amended, is hereby further amended by adding
the following:
"m. Billboards or signboards for directional or
informational purposes."
Section 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage in the manner provided by law and shall be published in
pamphlet'form by order of the .City Council.
