AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING CHAPTER 19 OF THE CITY CODE OF ELGIN BY ADOPTING BY
REFERENCE THE B.O.C.A. BASIC BUILDING CODE--1970 INCLUDING
THE 1972 ACCUMULATIVE SUPPLEMENT THERETO.
WHEREAS the City of Elgin has adopted by reference the B.O.C.A. Basic
Building Code--1970 as the Building Code of the City of Elgin; and
WHEREAS the 1972 Accumulative Supplement to said Basic Building Code
has been published; and
WHEREAS the City of Elgin desires to amend the Building Code by adopting
by reference the amendments contained in the 1972 Accumulative Supplement to
the B.O.C.A. Basic Building Code--1970; and
WHEREAS three copies of said regulations have been placed on file with
the City Clerk prior to adoption of this ordinance as required by the statutes
of the State of Illinois.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That Section 19-102 of Article 1 of Chapter 19 of the City
Code of Elgin is hereby amended to read as follows:
"19.102. Adoption of the Basic Building Code.
The regulations of the 1970 edition as recommended and published
by the Building Officials and Code Administrator International,
Incorporated including the 1972 Accumulative Supplement thereto,
published in pamphlet form, are hereby adopted as the regulations
governing-the construction of buildings and other structures in
the-City of Elgin with such amendments as are hereinafter set forth
in Section 19-103."
Section 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage as provided by law and shall be published in pamphlet
form by order of the City Council.
