G-1593 Ordinance No. G-1593 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE BUILDING CODE TO PERMIT TEMPORARY TENTS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That Section 19-103 of Article I, Chapter 19 of the City Code of the City of Elgin be and is hereby amended by adding the following subsection: "i. Section 423.1 'Location and Permits' is hereby amended to read as follows: 423.1. Location and Permits: Outside of fire district No. 1 and No. 2 temporary tents may be erected for a period not exceeding thirty (30) days for religious, educational or recreational purposes. A special permit shall be secured from the building office for all such installations. Temporary tents may be erected for a period not exceeding fifteen (15) days for other purposes upon written application to the City Council for a special permit. Said application shall include a complete description of the tent to be erected, including the number and location of entrances and exits, the site on which the tent is proposed to be erected including the location and proximity of other structures, the purpose for which the ► tent is to be erected including a description of the activity to be conducted within said tent and a description of any goods or merchandise to be displayed, offered for sale, bartered or given away. Said application shall be made not later than thirty (30) days prior to the commencement of use of said tents." Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law.
