AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE RELATING TO RECREATIONAL FACILITIES.
WHEREAS a public hearing was held by the Zoning Board of Appeals to
consider amendment of the Elgin Zoning Ordinance concerning recreational
facilities and
WHEREAS the Zoning Board of Appeals has recommended that the amend-
ments requested in the petition be adopted
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN:
Section 1. That Section 21-103, Rules and Definitions, of the Elgin
Zoning Ordinance as amended is hereby amended by adding the following
definitions:
'AMUSEMENT ESTABLISHMENT. A building which may offer
a variety of recreational facilities including, but
not limited to, bowling alleys, pool halls, gymnasiums,
swimming pools and skating rinks.
AMUSEMENT PARK. A commercially operated park with
various devices for entertainment including, but not
limited to, "carnival-type" establishments utilizing
fe. mechanical devices for recreational purposes, go-cart
tracks, miniature golf and driving ranges.
COMMUNITY CENTERS. See Recreational Buildings.
HEALTH CENTERS. A building or portion thereof offering
physical fitness instruction programs, reducing salons or
masseur parlors.
RECREATIONAL BUILDINGS. A building or group of buildings
and/or property offering recreational facilities including,
but not limited to, gymnasiums, swimming pools, skating
rinks, game rooms, meeting rooms, parks, playgrounds,
tennis courts and golf courses."
Section 2. That Subsection 21-107B(2)j of the Elgin Zoning Ordinance,
as amended, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Recreational buildings and community centers publically
owned and/or non-profit."
Section 3. That Subsections 21-107.1A(1)o and 21-108B(3)j of the Elgin
Zoning Ordinance, as amended, are hereby amended to read as follows:
"Recreational buildings and community centers."

Section 4. That Subsection 21-108B(2)ddd of the Elgin Zoning Ordinance,
as amended, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Health centers."
Section 5. That Subsection 21-108C(3)d of the Elgin Zoning Ordinance,
as amended, is hereby amended by adding the following:
"Amusement establishment."
Section 6. That Subsection 21-108D(3)f of the Elgin Zoning Ordinance,
as amended, is hereby amended by adding the following:
"Amusement park."
Section 7. That the Elgin Zoning Ordinance as amended is hereby further
amended by deleting in their entirety the following Subsections:
"21-107B(2)m, 21-107.1A(1)k, 21-108B(3)e, 21-108C(2)e,
21-108D(2)b and 21-108D(2)v."
Section 8. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 9. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
This ordinance shall be published in pamphlet form by authority of the City
Council.
