AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING CHAPTER 21 OF THE CITY CODE OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS,
ENTITLED "THE ELGIN ZONING ORDINANCE" AND AUTHORIZING A
SPECIAL USE FOR THE OPERATION OF AN AUTOMOBILE LAUNDRY TO
BE ESTABLISHED ON CERTAIN PROPERTY, PURSUANT TO THE PRO-
VISIONS OF CHAPTER 21 OF THE CITY CODE OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS ,
ENTITLED "THE ELGIN ZONING ORDINANCE".
WHEREAS , the City Council has been requested to amend
the Elgin Zoning Ordinance to reclassify certain property pre-
sently classified as B-3 , Service Business District, to B-4-,
General Service District, and to authorize a Special Use for
the operation of an Automobile Laundry upon said property here-
inafter described, in the City of Elgin, Illinois , and
WHEREAS, a written report has been prepared and forwarded
to the Zoning Board of Appeals and the City Council by the
Plan Commission pertaining to this particular petition, and
WHEREAS , a public hearing has been held by the Zoning
Board of Appeals , after due notice by publication, as pro-
vided by Statute, and its findings and recommendations have
been reported to the City Council, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that such Special
Use requested is necessary for the public convenience, can
be designed, located and operated so that the public health,
safety and welfare will be protected , and will not cause
substantial injury to the value of other property in the
neighborhood in which it is located and, therefore , should be
granted°
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS :
Section 1. That Sub-Section B of Section 21-106 of
Chapter 21 of the City Code of Elgin, Illinois , as amended, be,
and the same hereby is , amended by adding thereto the following
paragraph:
That the boundaries hereinbefore described and laid
out in the "Zoning District Map", as amended , be, and
they hereby are , altered by excluding from B-3 , Service
Business District, and including in B-4, General Service
District, the following described premises , to-wit:
Lot 8 and the East 32 . 77 feet of Lot 9, Block 4, S . Newton
Dexter ' s Addition to Elgin, in the City of Elgin, Kane
County, Illinois . (Commonly known as 168 Center Street.)
Section 2. That a Special Use for the operation of an
Automobile Laundry be, and the same hereby is, authorized, pur-
suant to the provisions of Chapter 21 of the City Code of Elgin, "'
Illinois , entitled "The Elgin Zoning Ordinance", on the above
described real estate, subject to construction as shown in the
site plan submitted and that the proposed facility be, and same
is , limited to one pole sign only.
Section 3. That all ordinances or parts thereof in con-
flict herewith be, and the same hereby are, repealed and of
no further force and effect.
Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage as provided by law, and
shall be published in pamphlet form by authority of the City
Council.
