AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ARTICLE VIII OF CHAPTER 18 OF THE CITY CODE , TO
AUTHORIZE THE CONTROLLED BURNING OF OPEN FIRES WITHIN THE
CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF ELGIN .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN ,
ILLINOIS :
Section 1 . That Section 18-814 of Article VIII of Chapter 18
of the City Code , be , and the same hereby is amended , by adding
thereto the following sentence , to-wit :
"The City Council may , however, authorize upon specific
request , controlled burning on a limited basis ,
relative to school , governmental or other institutional
functions , provided that the Council finds that such
burning will pose no danger, or inconvenience to
adjoining property owners and will not be detrimental
to the general public health and safety of the community . "
Section 2 . That all ordinances or parts thereof in
conflict herewith be, and the same hereby are , repealed and
of no further force and effect.
Section 3 . That this Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage as provided by law , and shall
be published in pamphlet form by authority of the City Council .
