G-1485 Ordinance No . G-l485 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21 OF THE CITY CODE OF ELGIN , ILLINOIS , ENTITLED "THE ELGIN ZONING ORDINANCE" AS PERTAINS TO CERTAIN OFF STREET PARKING REQUIREMENTS . WHEREAS , a public hearing has been held pursuant to Statute of the State of Illinois and the provisions of the Elgin Zoning Ordinance , and WHEREAS , the Elgin Zoning Board of Appeals has transmitted its recommendations to the City Council , all of which have been duly considered . NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN , ILLINOIS : Section 1 . That Section 21- 110 , Sub-section B "Off-Street Parking , " ( 14) "Required Spaces " , of the Elgin Zoning Ordinance , be , and the same hereby is , amended in the following manner : By deleting present sub-sections e . through cc . of Section 21-110 , Sub-section B , "Off-Street Parking" , ( 14) "Required Spaces " , and inserting in lieu thereof , the following new standards , to-wit : e . HOTELS AND APARTMENT HOTELS . At least one space for each separate lodging room . f . ROOMING HOUSES . At least two spaces plus one space for each two persons for whom living accommodations are provided . g . PRIVATE CLUBS AND LODGES . At least four spaces plus one space for each five seats in the main meeting hall . h . MOTELS , TOURIST HOMES , OR TOURIST COURTS . At least one space for each dwelling or lodging room plus one space for each two employees . i , SCHOOLS , NURSERY , ELEMENTARY , OR HIGH-PUBLIC OR PRIVATE . At least one space for each faculty member and full time employee , plus at least one space for each ten seats (or 180 inches of seating space ) in the main auditorium or assembly hall of elementary schools and at least one space for each five seats (or 90 inches of seating space ) in the main auditorium or assembly hall of high schools. j . CHURCH AND INSTITUTIONAL AUDITORIUMS . At least one space for each person employed on the premises and one additional space for each five seats (or 90 inches of seating space ) in the main auditorium or assembly hall . k . THEATRE . At least one space for each two employees and one additional space for each four seats in the theatre . 1 . HOSPITALS . At least two spaces for each hospital bed . m . SANITARIUMS , CONVALESCENT HOMES , AND NURSING HOMES . At least one space for each three beds , plus one space for each employee on duty . n . LIBRARIES AND MUSEUMS . At least one space for each 250 square feet of floor area . o . RECREATIONAL BUILDINGS AND COMMUNITY CENTERS . At least one space for each employee plus additional spaces as determined by the Zoning Enforcement Officer to serve the visiting public. p . MEDICAL AND DENTAL CLINICS . At least two spaces for each examining or treatment room , plus one space for each doctor and employee in the building . q . PUBLIC UTILITY AND PUBLIC SERVICE USES . At least one space for each one-and-one-half employees , plus spaces as determined by the Zoning Enforcement Officer to serve the visiting public . r . RAILROAD PASSENGER STATIONS . At least one space for each one-and one-half employees , plus spaces as determined by the Zoning Enforcement Officer to serve the visiting public . s . ESTABLISHMENTS HANDLING THE SALE AND CONSUMPTION ON THE PREMISES OF FOOD AND REFRESHMENT--NOT INCLUDING DRIVE-IN ESTABLISHMENTS . At least one space for each 60 square feet of floor area . t . DRIVE-IN ESTABLISHMENTS FOR SALE AND CONSUMPTION OF FOOD AND REFRESHMENT . At least one space for each 30 square feet of floor area . u . BOWLING ALLEYS . At least seven spaces for each alley , plus additional spaces as may be required herein for affiliated uses such as restaurants and the like . ✓ . BANKS , BUSINESS AD PROFESSIONAL OFFICES OR PUBLIC ADMINISTRATIONS BUILDINGS . At least one space for each 250 square feet of floor area . w . AUTOMOBILE SERVICE STATIONS . At least one space for each employee , plus two additional spaces for each service stall . x . FURNITURE AND APPLIANCE STORES , WHOLESALE STORES , HOUSEHOLD EQUIPMENT OR FURNITURE REPAIR SHOPS . At least one space for each 300 square feet of floor area . y . MOTOR VEHICLE SALES OR MACHINERY SALES . At least one space for each 300 square feet of floor space , plus parking spaces required by herein for repair facilities . • z . UNDERTAKING ESTABLISHMENTS AND FUNERAL PARLORS . At least ten spaces for each chapel or parlor plus one space for each funeral vehicle maintained on the premises and one space for each employee . aa . RETAIL STORES OTHER. At least one space for each 200 square feet of floor area . bb . MANUFACTURING , FABRICATING , CLEANING , SERVICING , TESTING , OR REPAIR ESTABLISHMENTS . At least one space for each two employees based upon the maximum number of employees employed on the premises during any working period . cc. WAREHOUSE AND STORAGE ESTABLISHMENTS , AND FREIGHT TERMINALS . At least one space for each two employees based on the maximum number of employees on the premises during any working period . dd . OTHER USES . Parking spaces on the same basis as required herein for the most similar uses as determined by the Zoning Enforcement Officer . Section 2 . That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict herewith be , and the same hereby are , repealed and of no further force and effect . Section 3 . That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage as provided by law and shall be published in pamphlet form by authority of the City Council . s/ W. E.
