�, AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING CHAPTER 25 OF THE CITY CODE TO PROHIBIT THE USE AND
OPERATION OF SNOWMOBILES UPON PUBLIC PROPERTY WITHIN THE
CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF ELGIN , ILLINOIS .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN ,
ILLINOIS :
Section 1 . That Chapter 25 entitled "Amusements " of
the City Code of Elgin , Illinois be , and the same hereby is ,
amended to prohibit the use and operation of snowmobiles
upon public property within the corporate limits of the City
of Elgin , by adding thereto the following additional Article ,
to-wit :
ARTICLE XI - SNOWMOBILES
1101 . Definition 1103 . Penalty
1102 . Operation Prohibited
25- 1101 - Definition : The term "snowmobile" being
defined herein as any motor driven vehicle utilizing
either a moving track or wheels , or skis , or combination
thereof , designed primarily for use upon snow and/or
wet and icy surfaces .
e.► 25- 1102 - Operation Prohibited : Snowmobiles, as
aefined herein, are hereby prohibited to be operated
upon the streets , highways or any other public property
within the corporate limits of the City of Elgin ,
Illinois .
25- 1103 - Penalty : Any person , firm or corporation
violating any provision of this Article shall be
fined not less than Ten Dollars ( $10 . 00) , nor more
than Five Hundred Dollars ( $500. 00) for each offense .
A separate offense shall be deemed committed on each
day on which a violation occurs or continues .
Section 2 . That all ordinances or parts thereof in
conflict herewith be , and the same hereby are repealed and
of no further force and effect .
Section 3 . That this ordinance shall be effective from
and after its passage as provided by law and shall be published
in pamphlet form by authority of the City Council .
