AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING CHAPTER 21 OF THE CITY CODE OF ELGIN , ILLINOIS ,
ENTITLED "THE ELGIN ZONING ORDINANCE" AUTHORIZING A SPECIAL
USE FOR THE MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF AN AUTOMOBILE
LAUNDRY TO BE ESTABLISHED ON CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE CITY
OF ELGIN , ILLINOIS :
WHEREAS , the City Council has been requested to authorize
a Special Use for the operation and maintenance of an automobile
laundry upon certain property hereinafter described , in the
City of Elgin , Illinois , which is presently classified M- 1 ,
Limited Manufacturing District , under the provisions of the
Elgin Zoning Ordinance , and
WHEREAS , a written report has been prepared and forwarded
to the Zoning Board of Appeals and the City Council by the
Plan Commission pertaining to this particular petition , and
WHEREAS , a public hearing has been held by the Zoning
Board of Appeals , after due notice by publication , as pro-
vided by Statute , and its findings and recommendations have
been reported to the City Council , and
WHEREAS , the City Council has determined that such Special
Use requested is necessary for the public convenience , can
be designed , located and operated so that the public health ,
safety and welfare will be protected, and will not cause
substantial injury to the value of other property in the
neighborhood in which it is located and , therefore , should be
granted .
NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN , ILLINOIS :
Section 1 , That a Special Use for the operation and main-
tenance of an automobile laundry be , and the same hereby is ,
authorized , pursuant to the provision of Chapter 21 of the City
Code of Elgin , Illinois , entitled "The Elgin Zoning Ordinance" ,
on the following described real estate , to-wit :
That part of Lot 8 of County Clerks Subdivision of
unsubdivided lots in Section 18 Twp , 41N , Range 9E ,
of the 3rd Principle Meridian , described as follows :
Commencing at the intersection of the Westerly line
of said Lot 8, with the Southerly right of way line
of State Route 19 , thence Southeasterly along Southerly
right of way line of State Route 19 , a distance of
671 feet for the place of beginning ; thence continuing
Southeasterly along said Southerly right of way line
a distance of 150 feet; thence southerly parallel
with west line of the Southeast quarter of Section 18 ,
as aforesaid , a distance of 150 feet ; thence North-
westerly , parallel with the Southerly right of way
line of State Route 19 , a distance of 150 feet;
thence Northerly , parallel with the West line of the
Southeast Quarter of said Section 18, a distance
of 150 feet to the place of beginning . Being
situated in the City of Elgin , Cook County , Illinois
and containing 20,921 square feet , more or less .
Section 2 . That all ordinances or parts thereof in
conflict herewith be , and the same hereby are , repealed and
of no further force and effect .
Section 3 . That this ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage as provided by law ,
and shall be published in pamphlet form by authority of the
City Council .
