AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING CHAPTER 21 OF THE CITY CODE OF ELGIN , ILLINOIS ,
ENTITLED " THE ELGIN ZONING ORDINANCE" AUTHORIZING A
SPECIAL USE FOR THE MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF AN
AUTOMOBILE LAUNDRY TO BE ESTABLISHED ON CERTAIN PROPERTY
IN THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS .
WHEREAS , the City Council has been requested to authorize
a Special Use for the operation and maintenance of an automobile
laundry upon certain property hereinafter described , in the
City of Elgin , Illinois , which is presently classified M- 1 ,
Limited Manufacturing District , under the provisions of the
Elgin Zoning Ordinance , and
WHEREAS , a written report has been prepared and forwarded
to the Zoning Board of Appeals and the City Council by the
Plan Commission pertaining to this particular petition , and
WHEREAS , a public hearing has been held by the Zoning
Board of Appeals , after due notice by publication , as pro-
vided by Statute , and its findings and recommendations have
been reported to the City Council , and
WHEREAS , the City Council has determined that such Special
Use requested is necessary for the public convenience , can
be designed , located and operated so that the public health ,
safety and welfare will be protected, and will not cause
substantial injury to the value of other property in the
neighborhood in which it is located and, therefore , should be
granted .
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN , ILLINOIS :
Section 1 . That a Special Use for the operation and main-
tenance of an automobile laundry be, and the same hereby is ,
authorized , pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 21 of the City
Code of Elgin , Illinois , entitled "The Elgin Zoning Ordinance" ,
on the following described real estate , to-wit:
That part of Lot 3 in Block B of Burnidge Bros .
Industrial Park Block A and B of Unit No . 1 ,
according to the plat thereof recorded in the
Recorder ' s Office of Kane County , Illinois , on
December 13 , 1963 , as Document No . 1014426 ,
described as follows : Commencing at the Northwest
corner of said Lot 3 ; thence Easterly along the
North line of said Lot 3, a distance of 683 . 52
feet to a point on a line that is 683 . 18 feet
Easterly of ( as measured at right angles thereto)
fbi and parallel with the West line of said Lot 3 ;
thence Southerly along said parallel line , a
distance of 140 . 66 feet; thence Easterly parallel
with the North line of said Lot 3 , a distance of
91 . 85 feet for the place of beginning ; thence
Southerly parallel with the West line of said
Lot 3 , a distance of 210 . 74 feet to the South
line of said Lot 3 ; thence Easterly along said
South line , a distance of 132 . 0 feet to the
Southeast corner of said Lot 3 ; thence Northerly
along the East line of said Lot 3 being at right
angles to the last described course , a distance
of 51 . 6 feet; thence Northeasterly along the
Easterly line of said Lot 3 , being along a
curve to the right, having a radius of 349 . 73
feet and being tangent to the last described
course , a distance of 169 . 38 feet ; thence
Westerly parallel with the North line of said
Lot 3 , a distance of 170 . 24 feet to the place
of beginning . Being situated in the City of
Elgin , Kane County , Illinois , and containing
0 . 686 acres more or less . ( Located at the
Northwest corner of Berkley Street , and Shepard
Drive in Burnidge Industrial Park) .
Section 3 . That all ordinances or parts thereof in
conflict herewith be , and the same hereby are , repealed and
of no further force and effect .
Section 4 . That this ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage as provided by law ,
and shall be published in pamphlet form by authority of the
City Council .
