AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING A MODIFICATION OF THE SIDEWALK ORDINANCE AS IT
PERTAINS TO CERTAIN PORTIONS OF WILSON, MABEL, SHULER,
SUMMIT AND DEMMOND STREETS, AND PRESTON AND HILL AVENUES,
AND MCLEAN BOULEVARD IN THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, various petitions have been filed with the City of Elgin
requesting authorization for the modification of the Sidewalk Ordinance on
various streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to authority given by resolution of the City
Council, the City Manager has reviewed the individual requests and has
recommended, in view of the general terrain of the various areas and the
location of existing sidewalks thereon, such modifications are desirable.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That a curb line sidewalk of approved specifications be,
and such hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the following
streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, to-wit:
Wilson Street, on the South side thereof, between McClure
Avenue and Silver Street.
Demmond Street, on the North side thereof, between North
Worth Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue.
Hill Avenue, on the West side thereof, between Chester
Street and Lincoln Avenue.
Mabel Street, on the West side thereof, between Murray
Street and Demmond Street.
Section 2. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the following streets
in such a manner that the edge nearest the curbline of said street shall lie
at a point 6 feet distant thereof, to-wit:
Shuler Street, on the North side thereof, between South
Clifton Avenue and South Melrose Avenue.
Section 3. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along Summit Street,
on the North side thereof, between Liberty Street and Preston Avenue, in
such a manner that the North edge thereof will lie 10 feet South of the
North property line of Summit Street.
Section 4, That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the North side of
Summit Street, between Hill Avenue and Dundee'.Avenue, in such a manner
that the North edge thereof will lie 10 feet South of the North property line
of Summit Street.
Section 5. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along McLean Boulevard
on the West side thereof, between Lawrence Avenue and Kraft Avenue,
in such a way that the East edge of said sidewalk lie 33 feet from the cen-
ter line of said McLean Boulevard and the West line of the sidewalk lie
37 feet from said center line.
Section 6. That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict herewith
be repealed and of no further force and effect.
Section 7. That this ordinance shall be effective from and after its
passage, as provided by law, and shall be published in pamphlet form by
authority of the City Council.
