AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING A MODIFICATION OF THE SIDEWALK ORDINANCE AS IT
PERTAINS TO CERTAIN PORTIONS OF PORTER, WASHBURN, ST. JOHN,
HASTINGS AND SOUTH STREETS, AND ELMA, NORTH WESTON AND
SHERWOOD AVENUES, AND RIVER BLUFF ROAD, IN THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, various petitions have been filed with the City of Elgin re-
questing authorization for the modification of the Sidewalk Ordinance on various
streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to authority given by resolution of the City Council,
the City Manager has reviewed the individual requests and has recommended,
in view of the general terrain of the various areas and the location of existing
sidewalks thereon, such modifications are desirable.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That a curb line sidewalk of approved specifications be,
and such hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the following
streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, to-wit:
North Porter Street on the East side thereof, between Lincoln
Avenue and Chester Avenue.
Washburn Street, on the South side thereof, between Vandalia
Street and Wabash Avenue.
St. John Street, on the West side thereof, between Plum Street
and Jefferson Avenue.
Section 2. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such here-
by is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the following list of streets
in such a manner that the edge nearest the curb line of the respective streets
shall lie at a point 3 feet distance thereof, to-wit:
Elma Avenue, on the North side thereof, between Dundee Avenue
and First Street.
Hastings Street, on the North side thereof, between South Liberty
Street and Illinois Avenue.

Washburn Street, on the South side thereof, between South
Commonwealth Avenue and Marguerite Street.
South Street, on the North side thereof, between South Weston
Avenue and South Clifton Avenue.
Section 3. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such here-
by is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the following list of streets
in such a manner that the edge nearest the curb line of the respective streets
shall lie at a point 4 feet distance thereof, to-wit:
North Weston Avenue, on the West side thereof, between Larkin
Avenue to the existing driveway at 50 North.Weston-Avenue.
River Bluff Road, on the North side thereof, between Morton
Avenue and Sherwood Avenue.
Section 4. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the North side of Wash-
burn Street, between Marguerite Street, and South Commonwealth Avenue, in
such a manner that the Southerly edge of said sidewalk shall lie at a point 8 1/2
feet distance from the curb line of said Washburn Street.
Section 5. That Ordinance No. S-799, passed August 12, 1965, be, and)
the same hereby is, repealed so far as it pertains to the modification of the
Sidewalk Ordinance for the North side of River Bluff Road, between Morton
Avenue and Sherwood Avenue, and the South side of Washburn Street, between
Marguerite Street and South Commonwealth Avenue.
Section 6. That all ordinances, or parts thereof, in conflict herewith
be repealed and of no further force and effect.
Section 7. That this ordinance shall be effective from and after its
passage, as provided by law, and shall be published in pamphlet form by author-
ity of the City Council.
