AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING A MODIFICATION OF THE SIDEWALK ORDINANCE AS
IT PERTAINS TO CERTAIN PORTIONS OF MARGUERITE, MORGAN,
CRESCENT, WASHBURN, WING, JAY,, SCHILLER, VAN AND CARR
STREETS AND COMMONWEALTH AND CEDAR AVENUES, IN THE CITY
OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, various petitions have been filed with the City of Elgin
requesting authorization for the modification of the Sidewalk Ordinance on
various streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to authority given by resolution of the City
Council, the City Manager has reviewed the individual requests and has
recommended, in view of the general terrain of the various areas and the
location of existing sidewalks thereon, such modifications are desirable.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That a curb line sidewalk of approved specifications be,
and such hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the follow-
ing streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, to-wit:
South Commonwealth Avenue on the East side thereof between
Morgan Street and Orange Street.
Marguerite Street on the West side thereof between Orange
Street and Morgan Street.
Morgan Street on the North side thereof between Marguerite
Street and South Commonwealth Avenue.
Crescent Street along and adjacent to the property known and
described as 602 South Street.
Washburn Street on the North side thereof along and adjacent
to the property known and described as 802 and 808 Washburn
Street,

Wing Street on the North side thereof between McLean
Boulevard and North Aldine Street.
Jay Street on the North side thereof between Cleveland
Avenue and Harrison Avenue.
Section 2. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the North side of
Schiller Street between Clark Street and the Northerly end of Schiller Street
at Wing Park Golf Course in such a manner that the Southerly edge of said
sidewalk shall lie at a point three feet distance from the curb line of said
Schiller Street.
Section 3. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the South side of
Van Street between Sheridan Street and Union Street in such a manner that
the Northerly edge of said sidewalk shall lie at a point six feet distance
from the curb line of said Van Street.
Section 4. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the North side of
Carr Street between South Worth Avenue and South Commonwealth Avenue
in such a manner that the Southerly edge of said sidewalk shall lie at a
point nine feet distance from the curb line of said Carr Street,
Section 5. That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict herewith
be repealed and of no further force and effect.
Section 6. That this ordinance shall be effective from and after its
passage, as provided by law, and shall be published in pamphlet form by
authority of the City Council.
