AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO, S=567 ENTITLED, "AN ORDINANCE
CREATING CERTAIN ADMINISTRATIVE DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY
AND DEFINING THE POWER OF EACH" PASSED NOVEMBER 4, 1955
TO SEPARATE THE CEMETERY DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF ELGIN
FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION AND RE-ESTAB-
LISH THE CEMETERY DEPARTMENT AS A SEPARATE MUNICIPAL DE-
PARTMENT.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That Section IV of Ordinance No. S=567 entitled, "An
Ordinance Creating Certain Administrative Departments of the City and De-
fining the Power of each" passed on November 4, 1955, be, and the same
hereby is, amended in the following manner, to-wit:
By redefining the Administrative Department established in said
Section IV by repealing said Section IV in its entirety and inserting in lieu
thereof the following, to-wit:
Section IV. There is hereby created an Administrative Department
of the City of Elgin which shall be known as the Department of Parks and
Recreation. This department shall consist of the Director of the Department
of Parks and Recreation and such other officers and employees as the City
Council shall from time to time authorize.
There is hereby created the office of Director of the Department of
Parks and Recreation who shall be the head of said department. The Director
of the Department of Parks and Recreation shall be appointed by the City
Manager with the advice and consent of the City Council.
The Department shall have jurisdiction and be responsible for the
maintenance and operation of the city parks, swimming pools, zoo, golf
course, museum and such other recreational facilities as may be assigned
to it by the City Council or the City Manager,
Section 2. There is hereby reestablished a separate department in
the City of Elgin known as the "Cemetery Department" as set forth and defined
in Chapter 12 of the City Code.
Section 3. That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict herewith
be and the same hereby are repealed and of no further force and effect.

Section 4. That this ordinance shall be effective from and after its
passage as provided by law and shall be published in pamphlet form by
authority of the City Council, 4117
