96-145 Resolution No. 96-145 RESOLUTION NAMING OF CITY-OWNED FACILITIES AND RIGHTS-OF-WAY WHEREAS, the City of Elgin deems it necessary to establish a procedure governing the naming of city-owned facilities in rights-of-way; and WHEREAS, the City Council believes that naming of city-owned facilities and public rights-of-way is necessary for the function of the facilities and is important to enhance community spirit and pride. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that the naming of any city-owned facilities and rights-of-way must be approved by a minimum 6-1 majority vote and any existing alteration or name change must be approved by a unanimous 7-0 vote. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council must hold a public hearing a minimum of two weeks before final action on naming or changing the name of a public facility or right-of-way.
