RESOLUTION
APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 FOR THE CONTRACT WITH
COPENHAVER CONSTRUCTION, INC.
FOR 2015 CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has heretofore entered into a contract with Copenhaver
Construction, Inc. for 2015 Central Business District Streetscape Improvements; and
WHEREAS,it is necessary and desirable to modify the terms of the contract as is described
in Change Order No. 1, attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN,ILLINOIS,that Sean R, Stegall, City Manager,be and is hereby authorized and directed to
execute Change Order No. 1,a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.

PROJECT: 2015 Central Business District Streetscape Improvements
CHANGE ORDER No. 1
CONTRACT: 2015 Central Business District Streetscape Improvements with Copenhaver
Construction, Inc. (the "Contractor") (Bid Number 15-032)
CHANGES TO CONTRACT:
I. Alternate Bid C. The scope of alternate Bid C relating to curb removal and concrete
planter curb repairs for planter beds is expanded to provide for curb removal and concrete
planter curb repairs to all of the existing 132 planter beds in the Central Business District.
The Contractor shall provide pursuant to alternate Bid C the following labor and
materials for all of the existing 132 planter beds in the Central Business District: (I)
remove existing fencing; (2) remove and replace the curb at each fence post installation
(buff color); (3) cut existing fence posts to 18" in height and modify the fence to attach a
bracket to each post for surface mounting: and (4) reinstall existing fencing at all planter
beds with new brackets for surface mounting in the same manner as the planter and fence
details for new fencing to he provided for the project per sheet number L-09 and per
SPECIAL PROVISIONS for ORNAMENTAL METAL FENCE. 18" LIT.
2. Alternate Bid B. Alternate Bid B relating to repaint fence (various locations) is
eliminated from the scope of work. There will he no painting of the fencing on the
repaired planter beds required (this does not apply to the new planter beds included in the
contract).
3. Completion Dates. Extend Substantial Completion date to OC LADei 3O . 2016.
Extend Final Completion date to ACJA;Y'^ _ 3,3 —, 2016.
REASONS FOR CHANGES:
• The changes are germane to the original contract as signed
• The change order is in the best interests of the City of Elgin and authorized by law
SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT: The amount of alternate Bid C is
increased from $21,576 to $32,736. The amount of alternate Bid B is being reduced from
$12,700 to zero. The net total amount of Change Order No. I is a reduction in the total contract
price in the amount of'$I.540.
ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $3.613.126.30
