RESOLUTION
APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 IN THE CONTRACT WITH
ELLIOTT AND WOOD, INC. FOR CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES AT FIRE STATION 7
WHEREAS,the City of Elgin has heretofore entered into a contract with Elliott and Wood,
Inc. for construction activities at Fire Station 7; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable to modify the terms of the contract as is described
in Change Order No. 2, attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN,ILLINOIS,that Olufemi Folarin,City Manager,be and is hereby authorized and directed to
execute Change Order No.2,a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.

CHANGE ORDER No. 2
CONTRACT: Construction of Fire Station 7 (Bid No. 07-053)
SCOPE: Elliott and Wood,Inc. was awarded the bid for the excavation and site utilities for the con-
struction of Fire Station 7. The original contract amount was$310,500 for site excavation and installa-
tion of utilities.A change order in the amount of$57,208.15 was submitted by Elliott and Wood,Inc. for
the increased costs associated with additional site engineering and utility work.This amount includes a
credit for$2,022 for stone provided by the Concrete Trade Contractor.
REASONS FOR CHANGE: Change Order No. 2 is in the best interest of the city and is authorized by
law. The necessity for the change was unforeseen at the time the contract was originally executed. The
changes contemplated in Change Order No. 2 are germane to the original agreement.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT: The original contract will be amended as
to scope and costs to include the additional site engineering and utility work.

The original amount of the contract with Elliot and Wood, Inc. is$310,500 Change Order No. 2 totaling
$57,208.15 will increase the original contract amount by a total of$57,208.15,that sum representing
eighteen and four tenths percent(18.4%)of the original contract amount. The new contract amount,in-
clusive of all change orders is$367,708.15.
OTHER CONTRACT PROVISIONS: All other contract provisions remain the same.

SUBJECT: Change Order No. 2 with Elliott and Wood, Inc. for the Construction of Fire
Station 7
PURPOSE
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the Mayor and members of the City Council with
information to consider authorizing Change Order No. 2 to the contract with Elliott and Wood,
Inc. for the excavation and site utilities for the construction of Fire Station 7.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the execution of Change Order No. 2 in the
amount of$57,208.15 to the contract with Elliott and Wood, Inc. for the increase in excavation
and site utilities for the construction of Fire Station 7.
BACKGROUND
Elliott and Wood, Inc. was awarded the bid for the excavation and site utilities for the
construction of Fire Station 7. The original contract amount was $310,500 for site excavation
and installation of utilities. A change order in the amount of$57,208.15 was submitted by Elliott
and Wood, Inc. for the increased costs associated with additional site engineering and utility
work. This amount includes a credit of $2,022 for stone provided by the Concrete Trade
Contractor.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
The total price of this change order is $57,208.15. The total budget for this project is $5.4
million with approximately $5 million spent and encumbered to date. There are sufficient funds
budgeted ($4,918,600) and available ($286,290) in account number 276-0000-791.92-36, project
number 289506 (Fire Station 7)to pay for this change order.
