RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council authorize execution of the Intergovernmental Agreement with Kane County for participation in funding of a feasibility study for improvements at the Randall Road and U.S. Route 20 interchange in the amount of$25,000. BACKGROUND Kane County has recently contracted with a consultant to complete a feasibility study for improvements to the Randall Road/U.S. Route 20 interchange. With the expected dramatic increase in population in Kane County over the next twenty years, it is recognized that diminishing safety and increasing congestion will become a major problem for this intersection. The feasibility study will look at various intersection alternatives, determine future traffic demands and provide preliminary project cost estimates. Kane County is requesting that the City participate in the cost of the feasibility study. The results of this study will have a major impact on the ability of traffic to move at an acceptable level of service through the subject intersection. The not-to-exceed cost of the study is $100,000. The City's share of the cost will be $25,000. A copy of the Intergovernmental Agreement is attached as Exhibit A.
