RESOLUTION
APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 IN THE CONTRACT WITH
COPENHAVER CONSTRUCTION FOR 2006 NEIGHBORHOOD
SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has heretofore entered into a contract with Copenhaver
Construction for the 2006 Neighborhood Sidewalk Replacement Program; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable to modify the terms of the contract as is described
in Change Order No. 1, attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN,ILLINOIS,that Olufemi Folarin,City Manager,be and is hereby authorized and directed to
execute Change Order No. 1, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.

CHANGE ORDER No. 1
CONTRACT: 2006 Neighborhood Sidewalk Replacement Program
SCOPE: This Change Order No. 1 will provide a reduction to bid items in the 2006
Neighborhood Sidewalk Replacement Program to keep the cost within the City's budget. The
reduction in the bid amount is $44,004.00 or 30.6% of the original bid amount($143,716.00).
This change order affects a contract entered into between the City of Elgin and Copenhaver
Construction of Gilberts, IL, an Illinois corporation, dated , 2006 for the 2006
Neighborhood Sidewalk Replacement Program.
REASONS FOR CHANGE: This Change Order No. 1 is in the best interests of the City and is
authorized by law. The necessity for the changes was unforeseen at the time of the original
agreement, and the changes contemplated hereby are germane to the original agreement.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT: The amount the contract will be
revised is as follows:
Attachment A is incorporated herein and describes the revised quantities of construction work to
be performed by the Contractor and revised contract amounts to be paid by the City in this
Change Order No. 1
The original contract with Copenhaver Construction is $143,716.00. By reason of Change Order
No. 1, the contract for the 2006 Neighborhood Sidewalk Replacement Program will be reduced
in the amount of forty four thousand four and 00/100 dollars ($44,004.00). The new contract
amount, inclusive of Change Order No. 1 is ninety nine thousand seven hundred twelve and
00/100 dollars ($99,712.00).
