Loete, Public Works Director SUBJECT: Acceptance of the Otter Creek Interceptor Sewer, Phase 1 and 2 PURPOSE The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the Mayor and members of the City Council with information to consider the acceptance of an interceptor sewer constructed by a venture group formed by three development companies. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council accept the Otter Creek Interceptor Sewer, Phases 1 and 2 for ownership and maintenance, and direct staff to prepare the necessary resolution. BACKGROUND Provisions within the annexation agreements for the Reserve, Edgewater, Waterford and Providence Subdivisions provided for the construction of a large diameter interceptor sewer. A venture group was formed between the three development companies, Pulte Homes, Kimball Hill Homes and Town and Country Homes, to construct Phases 1 and 2 of the Otter Creek Interceptor Sewer. Inspection was provided by Baxter and Woodman in accordance with a City agreement with that firm. The construction of this sewer was recently completed. The venture group has requested the City's acceptance of ownership and maintenance and the Engineering Division concurs with the request. The acceptance of these two phases of the Otter Creek Interceptor will add approximately 11,200 lineal feet of 48 inch diameter sanitary sewer to the City's inventory. A location map depicting the two phases is attached. Future maintenance costs will be included as part of the annual budgeting process. The cost of constructing the sewer totaled $3,753,780 and has been broken down by the Venture Group as follows: Construction $3,136,160 Engineering design & project management 330,143 Legal 35,367 Permits 18,752 Testing 65,499 Inspection 125,459 Lift station repairs 40,000 Title/escrow 2,400 TOTAL $3,753,780 LEGAL IMPACT None ALTERNATIVES 1.
