RESOLUTION
APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 IN THE CONTRACT
WITH VIRGIL COOK AND SON, INC. FOR THE
2003 MID-BLOCK STREET LIGHTING PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has heretofore entered into a contract with Virgil Cook and
Son, Inc. for the 2003 Mid-Block Street Lighting Project; and
WHEREAS,it is necessary and desirable to modify the terms of the contract as is described
in Change Order No. 1, attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN,ILLINOIS,that David M.Dorgan,City Manager,be and is hereby authorized and directed to
execute Change Order No. 1,a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereofby reference.

CHANGE ORDER No. 1
CONTRACT: 2003 Mid-Block Lighting Project
SCOPE: This Change Order No. 1 will increase the quantities of items as set
forth in Attachment A hereto.
The general contractor for this project is Virgil Cook and Son, Inc. of DeKalb, Illinois.
REASON FOR CHANGE: This Change Order No. 1 is in the best interest of the City
and is authorized by law.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT:
SEE ATTACHMENT A
The original contract with Virgil Cook and Son, Inc. is $27,706.90. By reason of Change
Order No. 1, the contract for the 2003 Mid-Block Lighting Project will be increased in the
amount of twenty seven thousand seven hundred fifty six and 10/100 dollars
($27,756.10). The new contract amount, inclusive of Change Order No. 1 is fifty five
thousand four hundred sixty three and 00/100 ($55,463.00).
