RESOLUTION
ESTABLISHING THE RESIDENTIAL SPRI 'KLER TASK FORCE
WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirabl- to create a task force
to examine the benefits and possible probl-m areas associated with
passing an ordinance which would requ' re automatic sprinkler
systems in residential dwellings .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that the following per-.ons are hereby appointed
as members of the Residential Sprinkler T.:sk Force :
William Freiberg - Chai man
Mark Mastrorocco
Charles Miller
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Re-idential Sprinkler Task
Force shall conduct its meetings in accordance with the Illinois
Open Meetings Act .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Re-idential Sprinkler Task
Force shall submit its recommendations w' thin ninety days of its
establishment to the City Council .

SUBJECT: Consideration of Establishing a 'esidential Sprinkler
Ordinance Task Force
PURPOSE
This is to provide the Mayor and Membe s of the City Council
with information regarding the establis ment of a residential
sprinkler ordinance task force .
BACKGROUND
rm. At the September 24 City Council Meeting, a presentation was
provided on the benefits of automated sprinkler systems in
residential dwellings . Per the request of Councilmember Sandor,
a task force would be established to ex-mine the benefits and
possible problem areas associated with adopting an ordinance
regarding same.
COMMUNITY GROUPS/INTERESTED PERSONS CONTASTED
Those groups affiliated with fire safety and prevention will be
involved in the process .

RECOrNDATION
It is recommended that the City of Ellin establish the Task
Force as presented.
