97-69 93 FEBRUARY 26 , 1997 VOLUME LXII RESOLUTION 97-69 ADOPTED APPOINTING LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT ADVISORY COMMITTEE Councilman McKevitt made a motion, seconded by Councilwoman Yearman, to adopt Resolution 97-69 . Councilman Gavin made a motion, seconded by Councilwoman Yearman, to amend Resolution 97-69 to provide that the executive committee of the Elgin Drug and Gang Task Force be appointed to the subject advisory committee . Yeas : Councilmembers Gavin, McKevitt, Walters , Yearman and Mayor Kelly. Nays : Councilman Schock. The vote on the original motion as amended was as follows : Yeas : Councilmembers Gavin, McKevitt, Schock, Walters, Yearman and Mayor Kelly. Nays : None . Amended Resolution No. 97-69 RESOLUTION APPOINTING LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT ADVISORY COMMITTEE WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has accepted a local law enforcement block grant from the U. S . Department of Justice in the amount of $83, 521 . 00 which has been matched by the City of Elgin in the amount of $9 , 280; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the program grant is for the reduction of crime and to improve public safety; and WHEREAS, the program grant requires that the City of Elgin form an advisory committee to advise the City Council on the expenditures of grant funds with such advisory committee to be comprised of members of the local police department, local prosecutor' s office, local court, local public school system and a local non-profit, educational , religious or committee group active in crime prevention or drug use prevention or drug treatment . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that the members of the board of the Elgin Drug and Gang Task Force be and are hereby appointed to the City of Elgin local law enforcement block grant advisory committee to advise the City Council on the expenditure of the U. S. Department of Justice local law enforcement block grant. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE City of Elgin local law enforcement block grant advisory committee shall meet as soon as practicable and submit to the City Council within ninety ( 90 ) days hereof its report advising the City Council as to the VOLUME LXII FEBRUARY 26 , 1997 94 expenditure of the subject U. S . Yeas : Councilmembers Gavin, McKevitt, Schock, Walters, Yearman and Mayor Kelly. Nays : None .
