RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH PARADISE ARTISTS, INC.
FOR A PERFORMANCE FOR THE ELGIN FINE ARTS FESTIVAL
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS, that it hereby authorizes Richard B. Helwig, City
Manager, to execute an agreement with Paradise Artists, Inc.
for a performance by Louie Bellson for the Elgin Fine Arts
Festival, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part
hereof by reference.

SUBJECT: Performance Agreement for Concert by Louie Bellson
PURPOSE
The purpose of this memorandum is to request City Council
approval of a performance contract for a concert by Louie
Bellson.
BACKGROUND
One feature of -the 1994 Elgin Fine Arts Festival will be an
evening concert, Saturday, August 26, on the south lawn of
Hemmens. This feature was added for the first time last year
and met with a great deal of success. A contract has been
negotiated for an appearance by Louie Bellson and his band
for this year's Saturday evening performance. Biographical
information about Mr. Bellson is provided.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The cost for the subject performance is $7,000, including a
$3,500 deposit. Funds have been budgeted for the Fine Arts
Festival under account #010-6902-719 .89-03. The Courier-News
will sponsor this event at the $2,000 level.
LEGAL IMPACT
None.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council approve a. performance
contract for Louie Bellson and his band for a concert during
the 1994 Fine Arts Festival.
