RESOLUTION
APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 IN THE CONTRACT WITH
WALKER PARKING CONSULTANTS/ENGINEERS, INC. FOR
THE RIVERSIDE PARKING AREA
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has hezetofore entered into a
contract with Walker Parking Consultants/Engineers, Inc. for
inspection services for demolition of the Riverside parking
area; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and deSirable to modify the
terms of the contract as is described in Change Order No. 1,
attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that Larry L. Rice, City Manager, be
and is hereby authorized and directed to execute Change Order
No. 1, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part
hereof by reference.

RIVERSIDE PARKING AREA - INSPECTION SERViCES FOR DEMOLITION
CHANGE ORDER NO. 1
SCOPE: This Change Order No . 1 cover the extra work
necessary to complete the demOlition inspection for
the Riverside Parking Area.
The consultant for this project Walker Parking
Consultants/Engineers, Inc. of Elgin, Illinois .
REASONS FOR CHANGE: This change order is required to pay the
costs associated with the increase cost of the inspection of the
demolition of the Riverside Parking Are . The original cost was
an estimate by the staff and the consultant of the time
necessary to complete the work through October and was not to
exceed $25,000 . The contract took a little longer than
anticipated.
The work included in this change order was not known and was not
reasonably foreseeable at the time of the letting of the
contract.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT: ?he amount of the

The present contract with Walker Parking Consultants/Engineers,
Inc . , is for $25,000 .00 . By reason of tnis Change Order No. 1,
the contract for the Inspection of the R'verside Parking Area
Demolition will be increased in the amou t of Four thousand one
hundred nineteen and 90/100 dollars ( $4 ,119 . 90) , the total
contract value being Twenty nine thousand one hundred nineteen
and 90/100 dollars ( $29, 119 . 90) .
OTHER CONTRACT PROVISIONS: All other contract provisions shall
remain the same.

SUBJECT: Riverside Deck Demolition
Change Order No. 1 for Construction Engineering Services
PURPOSE: This memorandum will provide .he Mayor and Council
with information to consider Change Ord:r No. 1 to the contract
with Walker Parking Consultants/Enginee .s, Inc. , (Walker) for
Construction Services on the Riverside Deck Demolition.
BACKGROUND: The City Council authorize• a contract with
Walker to provide inspection of the demolition and repair of the
Riverside Parking Area at their August 2, 1992 meeting. The
amount of the engineering inspection co tract was estimated at
that time because the level of effort n:cessary was not known.
However, it was a not to exceed amount or engineering services
through October, 1992 . The time necess. ry for the contractor,
Illinois Hydraulic, to complete the wor was more than
originally estimated and extended into December, 1992 . There
were some additional engineering costs ncurred by Walker in
October and they are not included in th s change order. This
change order is only for work performed by Walker after October
31, 1992 .
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The original estimat -d cost of the
engineering inspection services was $25 000.00 . The cost for
the necessary extra inspection work in ovember and December was
$4, 119 . 90. This will result in a final cost for these services
of $29, 119 .90.

RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council
authorize the City Manager to execute Ch nge Order No. 1 to the
contract for Inspection Services on the iverside Deck Demolition
project with Walker Parking Consultants/ ngineers, Inc. , in the
amount of $4, 1119.
