RESOLUTION
CHANGING THE NAME OF CERESA DRIVE TO WOODVIEW DRIVE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS, that the public street known as Ceresa Drive from
East Chicago Street to Birch Drive be and the same is hereby
redesignated and renamed Woodview Drive.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all city signs and maps shall
be altered to read Woodview Drive at the aforesaid places.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
authorized and directed to give written notice to the election
authorities having jurisdiction in the area in which the
street name is hereby changed and to the post office branch
serving that area by certified or registered mail .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the resolution shall be in
effect thirty days after notice is given to the election
authorities and the post office as provided herein.

SUBJECT: Recommendation from the Traffic Committee to
change the name of Ceresa Drive to Woodview Drive
PURPOSE: To provide the Mayor and Council with information
to consider changing the name of Ceresa Drive to Woodview Drive.
BACKGROUND: Ceresa Drive was installed by the developer of the
existing bowling alley. The street originally only ran to the
north where it serves the apartment buildings in that area.
Recently the City Council approved a new residential development
on the south side of Chicago Street, across from Espo' s Lanes.
The street which serves this development has been platted and
recorded as Woodview Drive.
The owner of the bowling alley, Terri Esposito, Manager,
Espo's Country Lanes, has requested that the name of the
street be changed to Woodview Drive. A copy of the letter is
attached for your consideration. The Traffic Committee has
reviewed the request and would recommend approval of the street
name change because the only property which has a mailing
address on Ceresa Drive is the bowling alley and the name change
will avoid confusion by having the same street name both north
and south of Chicago Street.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The estimated cost for the new street name
signs including labor and material is $200 .
RECOMMENDATION: To help avoid confusion it is recommended
that the City Council authorize changing the name of Ceresa Drive
to Woodview Drive and direct the staff to prepare the necessary
ordinance.

Dear Mr. Rice:

am writing to you on behalf of Espo's Country Lanes and Cascade
Aanor both of which are located at 37 Ceresa Drive.
It is our desire to change the name of our street from Ceresa Drive
to Woodview Lane or Woodview Drive.
I understand from talking to the Planning Department that the new
subdivision which is presently being built across Chicago Street from
us, will have the street name of Woodview Circle.
Inasmuch as we are the only ones who use Ceresa Drive as a mailing
address, we are asking for your help to get the steet name changed.
After talking to several people about this, I understand that it
would be beneficial to the Police and Fire Department to have the
street names uniform.
Anything you can do to help us in this matter would be greatly
appreciated.
