LORD'S PARK POOL IMPROVEMENTS
CHANGE ORDER NO. 1
SCOPE. This Change Order No. 1 covers the elimination of a 6 feet high
picket fence and substituting it with an 8 feet high picket fence around
the periphery of Lord's Park Swimming Pool by Northern Illinois Fence,
Inc. , 353 East Route 38, DeKalb, IL 60115.
REASONS FOR CHANGE. When the contractor started to install the 6 feet high
picket fence that we had specified, we realized that the material is not
very attractive and would not provide the privacy we had expected. In
the first place, the pickets are only 6 feet high and the chain link fence
that the woven pickets are to be fastened to is 8 feet high. If the
pickets are fastened to the chain link fabric flush with the concrete
surface or ground level , the desired privacy will not be attained.
Therefore, we considered fastening the woven pickets inside of the peri-
meter fence one foot above the ground level . When a section of the
pickets was installed, we came to the conclusion that we should look for
some alternate.
After making a number of inquiries, we came to learn that two agencies,
Parks Departments in DesPlaines and DeKalb had a privacy link fabric
manufactured by Semmerling Manufacturing Corporation. The fabric is
manufactured from durable 9 gauge aluminized steel wire, into a uniform
3"x52" mesh. The wooden slats are inserted mechanically into each mesh
of the chain link fabric and held securely in position by an elongated
knuckle at each end of the slats. The slats are finished with a high
quality redwood-colored stain. It comes in the 8 feet height that would
serve our purpose. The 8 feet high chain link fence would be removed and
the woven fabric with the slats in place would be installed.
Personnel from the Public Property and Recreation Department have visited
the two swimming pools in DesPlaines and DeKalb and are of the opinion
that the fabric is durable, attractive and will provide the desired
privacy.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT. The amount of the contract will be
revised as follows:

By reason of this Change Order No. 1, the contract for Lord's Park Pool
Improvements will be increased in the amount of One Thousand Eight
Hundred Forty Eight and no/100 Dollars ($1,848.00) , the total contract
with Northern Illinois Fence, Inc. being Twenty One Thousand Four Hundred
Seventy and 10/100 ($21,470. 10) .
OTHER CONTRACT PROVISIONS. All other contract provisions shall remain the
same.
