92-0122 Wil-Freds Change Order 9 RESOLUTION
APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 9 IN THE CONTRACT WITH
WIL-FREDS CONSTRUCTION FOR THE SLADE AVENUE FACILITY
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has heretofore entered into a
contract with Wil-Freds Construction for the Slade Avenue
facility; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable to modify the
terms of the contract as is described in Change Order No. 9,
attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that Larry L. Rice, City Manager, be
and is hereby authorized and directed to execute Change Order
No. 9, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part
hereof by reference.

SUBJECT: SLADE AVENUE FACILITY CHANGE ORDER #9, WIL-FREDS
CONSTRUCTION
PURPOSE:
This memorandum will provide the Mayor and Council with
information to consider authorizing Change Order #9 with
Wil-Freds Construction regarding telephone service at the Slade
Avenue facility.
BACKGROUND:
When the Slade Avenue facility was being designed and equipment
specifications drafted, the City was using a different phone
system. This discrepancy was noted when the phones for the new
facility were being ordered. To maintain consistency within the
City, it is prudent to switch when the phones are installed.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The net cost to the Water Department for this substitution will
be $1,803.26, including a credit of approximately $2,480. There
are sufficient funds in the Water Department's operating budget
to provide funds for this change order.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize Change Order
#9 with Wil-Freds Construction for $1, 803 . 26 for the
installation (3, system consistent with City equipment.

The project titled "Valve Replacement and Repairs to the Slade Avenue
Reservoirs, " project construction permit #0389-FY1990, which you
referred to in your letter dated December 17, 1991, has been combined
with project "Slade Avenue Facilities, " permit #0157-FY1991, for
construction. These projects were bid and awarded for construction by
the Elgin City Council on September 26, 1990.
The entire project is still under construction and should be completed
during 1992.
