1987 REHABILITATION OF SANITARY SEWERS
PROJECT #3018
CHANGE ORDER NO. 1
SCOPE: This Change Order No . 1 covers the additional point
repairs to the main line sanitary sewers in the areas
of the 1987 Resurfacing Program. These repairs are
required due to additional deterioration of the pipe.
The general contractor operating under contract to the
City of Elgin is Visu-Sewer Clean & Seal , Inc . of
Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin 53051 .
REASONS FOR CHANGE: This change order is required in order
to repair the main line sanitary sewers in the areas of the
1987 Resurfacing Program . The consultant , RJN Environmental ,
which prepared the project design and contract documents,
viewed each sanitary sewer line from video tapes that were 3
to 4 years old and determined there were several locations
where portions of the sewer pipe should be removed and
replaced , referred to as point repairs. Prior to these
repairs being made , each line which required a point repair
was televised to determine if there was additional
deterioration of the pipe. During this television
inspection , we discovered four locations where certain
portions of the sewer line which previously had small cracks
in the pipe had now developed into larger cracks which
required replacement of the pipe .
The work included in this sewer repair contract are point
repairs and grouting . This involves two crews each with
their own equipment suitable for the work they do . The point
repairs requires open cutting of the pavement , whereas the
grouting does not . Therefore , the contractor had to complete
the point repairs as soon as possible as not to interfere
with the street improvement projects.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT: The amount of the contract
will be revised as follows :

Four (4 ) @ $2,200.00
The present contract with Visu-Sewer Clean & Seal , Inc . is for
$137 , 100' 00' By reason of this Change Order No . 1 , the contract
for the 1987 Rehabilitation of Sanitary Sewers will be increased
in the amount of Eight Thousand Eight Hundred and 00/ 100 Dollars
($8,800 '00) , the total contract value being One Hundred
Fourty-Five Thousand Nine Hundred and 00/ 100 Dollars ( $l45 ,900. 00) .
