SPARTAN MEADOWS PARKING LOT
CHANGE ORDER NO.1 & FINAL
SCOPE. This Change Order No.1 & Final covers the addition of the cost
of labor and material to the contract for the repair of a defective
culvert under the approach to Spartan Meadows Parking Lot.
REASON FOR CHANGE. During the excavation for the new asphalt approach
the contractor uncovered a void that had been caused by a defective joint
in the existing corrugated metal culvert. The contractor was directed to
clear an area down to and around the pipe. A city crew then made the
necessary repair to the culvert and the contractor filled the resulting
excavation with compacted CA-9.
CHANGE IN CONTRACT AMOUNT.
Labor $705.23
Materials 184.22
Total $889.45
By reason of this Change Order No.1 & Final , the cost shall be increased
in the amount of Eight hundred eighty-nine and 45/100 Dollars ($889.45).
OTHER CONTRACT PROVISIONS. All other provisions of the contract shall
remain the same.

RE: Spartan Meadows Parking Lot
Change Order No.1 & Final
The above referenced project was completed on August 31 , 1984. The
work included a new two inch (2") asphalt overlay in the approach area
and A-2 Sealcoat in the remainder of the lot.
When the contractor, Curran Contracting Company, excavated the area
of the approach they found a portion of existing drainage culvert had
separated. This separation undermined the existing approach causing a void
which had to be repaired. Curran excavated the faulty culvert joint and a
City crew made the necessary repair. The cost of this extra work to
excavate and backfill the problem area amounted to $889.45 (copy of invoice
attached).
The original contract for this project was $12,107.50. Because of this
Change Order No.1 & Final , the final contract price will be $13,096.95.
Based on the attached Change Order and Invoice, we would recommend that the
City Council approve Change Order No.1 & Final .
